Data Strategy Is 90% Data Movement
Data management is something of a centralized process. There are tables and rows, data stores, repositories, and even the dreaded silos, all of which reflect a central management function.
But data management also involves data movement, and that's becoming increasingly important as more databases are deployed in the cloud.
Data movement technologies are advancing quickly. My just-published article explores some of the latest developments in five areas: APIs, ETL, change data capture, data fabrics, and distributed databases.
Even these new capabilities won't be enough as cloud databases grow and proliferate. As I write, "new solutions will ultimately be required."
